Day
01: Paro
Arrive
at Paro International Airport where your guide will meet you and take you to
Thimphu. Sightseeing in paro such as Paro Rinpung Dzong, national museum
and Drukgyel Dzong, after lunch you will visit
Kyichu Lhakhang (temple) and Dumtse Lhakhang, a temple built by
Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder. Overnight in Paro
Day
02: Paro to Jele Dzong
Today’s
trail is a long but fairly gentle ascent. A clear day offers a bird’s eye view
of Paro valley. Camp at 3536 m. (10 km)
Day 03
:Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha
Walk
through thick alpine forests and rhododendron trees. In winter yaks graze in
the pastures along the path and around the campsite. (Altitude 3627 m, 10 km)
Day
04: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso
Today’s
trek follows mountain ridges with spectacular views of distant valleys and
mountain ranges. The camp is near the Jimilangtso Lake at about 3706 m. (11 kms)
Day
05: Jimilangtso to Semkotha
The
path continues past dwarf rhododendron trees, the Janetsho Lake and through yak
herders’ camps. Camp by the Semkotha Lake at an altitude of around 3834 m. (11
kms)
Day
06: Semkotha to Phajoding
The
day begins with a gradual climb. If weather permits there will be a beautiful
view of Mount Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain, as well as of
further peaks from the Doupchu La Pass. The path gradually
descends to Phajoding Gompa, where a monastery and retreat centres
for meditation are located. Camp at about 3536 m. (10 kms)
Day
07: Phajoding to Thimphu
The
final day’s trail to Thimphu descends steeply through blue pine forests (2 to 3
hours) Night at Thimphu.
Day
08: Thimphu
Sightseeing
in Thimphu where you can visit the National Memorial Chorten, the National
Library, the National Painting School and Changangkha Temple. Browse the
striking collection of intricate textiles at the National Textile Museum and
visit the Folk Museum. You may also be able to visit the weekly market.
Overnight in Thimphu
Day 09
Hike to tiger nest
Hike
to the Tiger’s Nest and have lunch at the Taktshang cafeteria. On the way back
you can visit Dumtse Lhakhang, a temple built by Thangthong
Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder. Overnight in Paro
Day
10: Departure
